So I’m going to jump back a little bit. We have this awesome office manager. We’d totally be lost without her. She can figure out anything and keeps us in tip top condition here at the office. Well, remember this post? You know, the one where Lily wouldn’t smile at all? Well, Alicia has her own photography business. You can find it here. She’s awesome. And Lily smiled for her. Here are just some of the wonderful pictures she took of us.
She does a great job. If you’re in the Snohomish area (and she does go other places) you should totally look her up! You can find her here.

January 29, 2012
Just random stuff. I thought I'd toot my own horn. I made baked ravioli and put it in the fridge last night for lunch today. Right before we left for church, I put it in the oven and did a time bake so it was ready when we came home from church. It was good. We had some sweet girls come and spend the weekend with us and between the 5 children (which I loved having in my house) and Benjamin and I, we ate the whole thing. All the girls except Lily went back for seconds. :D
I also got up at 6:30 am this morning (can we get a yuck here??) to make sure that I got the pork roast on for dinner tonight. It's a good thing too because we had New Beginnings tonight and I had dinner made by 5 so we could make it there by 6. It doesn't happen that often, but I sure was proud of myself.
Lauren and Kathryn ended up being spot lighted tonight becuase we moved into the ward this past year. All the new girls who moved in and all the girls who were coming into beehives this year were spot lighted. I told funny stories of both Kathryn and Lauren. We got the most laughs out of all the stories. We told this story of Lauren. We also told the story of when I accidentally kicked out Kathryn's front teeth. Yeah... we were on our bed, the whole family. Benjamin, me, Lauren & Kathryn. Kathryn was trying to tickle/lick my feet and I didn't want her too. So I was lightly kicking, but my heel made contact with her two front teeth that had needed to come out for like 2 months. Well, they sure did come out. At the same time too! She was screaming until she got a good look at her mouth and then she was all... cooooollllll. Tooth Fairy paid her big time for those. We had a good time tonight.
Then one of my girlfriends had her 5th baby tonight. We were single mom's together. She's married now and she just gave birth to a very big little girl. You can find our more about her here.
Lily's feeling better now. She had a UTI. Poor baby, they aren't fun. I've lived with them my whole life.
I'm off to bed now. It's going to be a long week.

Adoption
January 28, 2012
You know on a blog, I try and not air dirty laundry. Not that adoption is, or what I'm about to say is dirty laundry, but what I really mean is I don't like to post the down side of my life. It's personal. And my blog is open and free! In fact, soon, I'll be buying a domain name. *gulp* and sometimes I read on someones blog and think, did you really just say that? Did I really need to know that? Well, for us to go to the adoption area, yes, I'm going to really say that. Do you really need to know? Maybe. If you know someone who is considering placing their child up for adoption.
Growing up, cabbage patch kids were the RAGE. I mean seriously. To get my first doll, my mother braved the crowds in the store. The other pushy mothers. Hmmm, now I'm not surprised that my mother got me one. If you know her. Thanks mom! I love you! You're the best! So back to my thing in the 80's. I loved those dolls. In fact, as my "children" grew, the happier I was. I got up to 13 dolls. AND, I'm PROUD to say that I knew all their names, both first and middle, and I knew their birth dates. I sent in all my adoption papers and I got birth certificates back. I was one proud mama. Then, as I'm spoken in the past about this, I was diagnosed with diabetes when I was 13. I remember one of the first major things told tome was: You'll never be able to have children. WHAT?? Are you kidding me?? And I thought, they don't know me. They don't know what I'm capable of. In the next few years I was diagnosed with a couple more diseases. I still had my attitude. I WAS going to have children.
When I was 19, I thought I had met the love of my life. I even married him. We were married in May of 1996 and by February of 1997, I knew it was a mistake. Never the less, I was a good Mormon girl. I had made my bed, I would sleep in it. I thought I did very good. I lasted in that marriage until 2001 and divorced in 2002. And you know what? I did have children. Lauren was born in June of 1997 and Kathryn joined our family shortly thereafter in February of 1999. Both were hard pregnancies, but I had a doctor who was a good Christian woman who understood my need for wanting children. She said to me, "You can have as many children as you like. I'll support you in this decision." I ended up with preeclampsia with both girls. Which resulted in them being born early. Lauren was at 35 weeks and Kathryn at 34 weeks. Lauren was in the NICU for 9 days and Kathryn was in the NICU for 2 weeks. I remember after taking them home that it was the longest! Ever! to be there. ha! How little did I know that later on, I'd be grateful for 9 days and 2 weeks. Either way, when I divorced, I had no intention of ever getting remarried. Ever. Again. And lets just say we'll leave it at that.
I never thought I'd have children again. However, much to my surprise, I found a wonderful man and we got married in October of 2005. I knew we wanted children. More children and we were going to wait, but Heavenly Father had other plans. I got pregnant in March of 2006 with a due date of December 17, 2006. What we didn't know was that when I was around 23 weeks pregnant, she suffered a stroke. She was born on October 21, 2006 one week exactly before we celebrated our first anniversary of being married. She was terminally ill and would die. She was just here for a body. I really had a hard time dealing with it. It was so hard for me to carry children. I didn't get preeclampsia this time around, I had an abruption. We think it was also this abruption that I think started around the time I was about 17 weeks along that caused her to have a stroke. Because of this abruption, after she was born she ended up having 9 blood transfusions and multiple platelet transfusions. Either way, she passed away when she was 10 weeks and 5 days old. My doctors cautioned me to wait for a year not only for my body to heal but my emotional and spiritual well being.
We found out in December of 2007 that I was pregnant with Lily and her due date was August 30, 2008. She was born at 29 weeks on June 14, 2008. We were really scared. However, we learned that this time around that I was the one bleeding out instead of Lily. The doctors wanted me to have a blood transfusion while I was still pregnant with her. I refused. I wanted to make sure that Lily was born with every possibility of surviving and with our odds, I'd get blood that had HIV or something that accidentally slipped past. So within 24 hours of her being born, I had 2 blood transfusions. I was told that before I got pregnant with Lily that my chances of having another abruption would be unlikely and only a 20% chance of it reoccurring. Well, I did have another abruption and could have died. The doctors told me that I needed to be done. I knew I needed to be done, but I felt that our family was still incomplete. Benjamin was fine with just having Lily. For a long time, I've felt that our family was still waiting for another little person.
Fast forward to about a month ago. Lily was singing in the car on the way home. She kept singing that she wanted a little brother. She then switched to just wanting to be a big sister. So I called Benjamin and for the first time, he didn't immediately say no. We ended up having quite the discussion and he agreed that it felt like we still have another one coming.
I can't have children any longer. My body has given out. So, this is where it comes in about adopting. We want to adopt a child. We're hoping for a child younger than Lily, and a boy, but that doesn't make or break the bank. I'm putting it out there so if anyone knows of someone who is looking to possibly place their child with another family through adoption, to please consider us. We have the room, the money to support the child, excellent health care and an abundance to love a new person.

NYEE aka: New Year Eve Elf
This has been a tradition in my family since my father was a little boy. Each year, the NYEE comes to our house and leaves little presents to ring in the new year. He leaves little clues to where the children can find presents.I’ve blogged about it before. You can find it here.
So this year he decided to scramble the words. And add extra letters into the clues. It looked something like this:
It. Did. Them. In. They ended up just going around the house looking for the stuff. It made me giggle. Usually they’re running from place to place. This year it was much harder for them. Here are some of the places that the loot was hidden.
This is the first initial clue along with some fun stuff. The NYEE was so kind as to not hide our stuff. He just left our loot out!
This candy was hidden on the keyboard that got pushed in under the desk. I had to point out to them. By this time they were very frustrated. It was also frustrating to them because they accidentally slept in and we have 9am church. They wanted to have everything found before we left. As we say in my office: That ain’t gonna happen!
Loot was found in our pantry.
Under our dining table. The one in our breakfast nook, not my brand new table in our dining room.
In our front closet where we keep all of our shoes. Hopefully to be moved into the garage in the near future… Not the closet but the shoes…
In the refrigerator
.
In the girls’ bathroom closet
This was their final loot. So little stuff followed with something more substantial. A crystal growing kit for Lauren, a nutcracker to paint for Kathryn and an iTunes card for the girls to share.
Maybe the NYEE will be a bit easier on them next year…
Question of the day: Do you have any fun traditions that are in your house during the holidays you’d like to share?

January 26, 2012
Kathryn was too excited to wait, she was the first one there, elbowing her sisters and dad out of the way!
Lily still isn’t sure if she wants to be up this early. She ended up not wanting to wear her brand new pajamas and wore a pair that I had bought her a couple of months ago.
Lauren and her loot:
Yes, Lauren received an iPad. Spoiled little brat.
She also received :
A huge Sephora palette of make-up, 96 eye shadow colors, blush, lip gloss and lip stick, eye liner and mascara. It’s the bomb.
Remember this day? Day 5? Well, we decided since we love it so much and we basically fight over who gets to have it? So we got Lauren one too.
Kathryn’s loot:
That’s a pretty satisfied look on that little girl’s face. Santa didn’t go over the top, just got her a 32” which I might remind all of you, we didn’t have that big of a TV until last Father’s day and Benjamin got his huge TV… hey, I haven’t blogged about that. Hmmm, I’ll get to that too!
Kathryn was finding all the presents! See that bag with the purple tissue paper? That’s my present.
She loved that box. Ironically enough, it’s from my cousin Terry. She had used that box to give me a Christmas present in. And I in turned used it for a box for Kathryn. Waste not, want not.
Lily’s loot:
She loves this bike. Funny story. The day after Christmas, her front tire got a flat. We had to take it to replace it and she kept cursing Santa. She didn’t. like. him. He gave her a bike that was broken!!! It’s all good now. She whips around our house in it and knows how to brake and the whole thing. I’m sure by this summer, the training wheels will come off.
It was too early in the morning for her to open her presents. This was the best look I could get.
Benjamin’s loot:
If you’re wondering what it is, it’s one of these. That is why he didn’t have any presents to open under the tree.
I had one present under the tree and it was this. Santa left me a little pile of goodies too.
And that was our Christmas!

Christmas Eve!
So every year the girls get to open one present on Christmas Eve… And every year it’s pajamas. I think they like it because I guess I forgot to buy them pajamas last year when we were in the middle of buying our house. So Kathryn reminded me plenty of times this year that I needed to make sure that they had presents aka pajamas to open this year.
Lily again, wanted Lauren to help her open her present.
Her pajamas are pink! Surprised? Yeah, me either. This kid loves pink.
Kathryn being the ham that she is…
They are two piece pajamas, but the bottoms are footies. She really wanted footie pajamas!
Those are her bottoms with a black top.
Now they are ready for Santa to come!!
Question of the day: Do you have any traditions for Christmas Eve?
